Grit and Perseverance Scholarship Awarded to JJ Salajko

Congratulations to JJ Salajko, Recipient of the 2026 CAHA Grit & Perseverance Scholarship

The Columbus Capitals Hockey Association (CAHA) is thrilled to announce JJ Salajko as the inaugural recipient of the 2026 CAHA Grit & Perseverance Scholarship.         

JJ's hockey journey began with CAHA, where he played Mini Mite and Mite hockey from 2012–2015. He went on to develop his game with the AAA Blue Jackets before finishing his youth hockey career with the Little Caesars AAA organization in Detroit. JJ then continued his pursuit of excellence by competing in junior hockey for three seasons across the United States and Canada.

This fall, JJ will continue both his academic and athletic career at Michigan State University, where he will study business while continuing to play hockey.

The Grit and Perseverance Scholarship is inspired by the incredible journey of CAHA’s own Bryce Miller. This scholarship is dedicated to a student athlete who exemplifies resilience, determination, and steadfast commitment to personal growth both on and off the ice. JJ’s journey reflects these values and serves as a source of inspiration for future Capital players.  

JJ was presented the scholarship by Tim Dye, chair of the scholarship committee.

The Columbus Capitals Hockey Association also extends its sincere gratitude to the Yellow Boulder Foundation for its generous support of the Grit & Perseverance Scholarship and its continued commitment to helping young people pursue their educational goals.
